RESILIENCE, RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT Growing Resilient, responsible and respectful children is key to fostering healthy relationships and accountability for behaviours. Bullying can lead to mental health problems in adolescence and beyond and the effects of transition between primary and secondary schools as a victim of bullying can result in poor access of education and healthy young people.
Our Beacons Program is an initiative for young people of Primary age. It is a playground based program facilitated by us but run by the young people. After introduction to our Beacons program children are invited to sign up to become a Beacon. They are then trained at intervals throughout their term as a Beacon and taught conflict resolution skills, communication and friendship skills. All Beacons are provided with Vests and booklets to further support them to develop skills whilst in the program
Beacons program includes:
Assembly to introduce Playground Beacons and raise awareness of Responsible behaviours
Playground sign up station staffed by D2D on the day of the assembly
Termly meetings/training for Beacons
Resources and Beacon Vests supplied to school
Evaluation/monitoring/impact reports of the playground Beacon System
